The position:   We are currently seeking a Procurement Officer who will represent our procurement team with the provision of robust and dependable procurement expertise to the business during our peak car build period.     The role:   - The role will include discussing, planning and organising the composite and mechanical category work schedules with the Procurement Manager and Senior Procurement Officer. - You will ensure that all aspects of transactional procurement of goods and services are met in terms of optimised cost, delivered to the end user on time and to the required quality standard. - As a Procurement Officer you will strive to achieve departmental measures of performance, support the Procurement Manager and Senior Procurement Officer with continuous improvement and delivery of strategy and best practice as well as negotiating contracts with suppliers that are to the best advantage of Williams. - There will be a large amount of liaising with budget holders to ensure that stakeholder requirements are fully understood to facilitate more effective procurement activity and where appropriate advise budget holders of the likely outcomes of negotiations and possible alternative strategies that may achieve budgetary targets or other outcomes desired by the budget holder. - This is a technical procurement role with a strong focus on the outsourcing of the businesses composite manufacturing requirements and the procurement of composite raw materials, so a strong understanding of technical drawings and composite part manufacturing processes is a requirement.   Education and experience:   - You will have at least 3 years proven previous procurement experience working within a fast-changing engineering or manufacturing environment. - F1, Automotive, Motorsports or Aerospace procurement experience is desirable. - Procurement experience of Raw Materials and Composite / Mechanical Part manufacture is a requirement. - Good problem solving and team working skills with ability to work under own initiative. - Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills are essential. - CIPS qualifications are desirable. Williams Advanced Engineering are currently seeking to recruit a Technician (HV Batteries) on a permanent basis reporting to the Production Manager.  This is an integral role that will work on advanced battery systems for motorsport, automotive, and industrial applications.  The role will be required to complete the assembly of products against strict planned schedules to a very high standard of attention to detail and quality.   Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include: - Assembly of complete battery packs including all cooling sub-assemblies, wiring harnesses, mechanical enclosures and fixings; - In-build testing and validation of HV battery packs; - Assembly of subcomponents and sub-assemblies; - Arming of battery packs to High Voltage; - Safety checks and testing of battery packs; - Installing Battery Packs onto test rigs with associated sub-assemblies; - Liaising with the Production Manager to deliver products to the agreed schedule; - Developing build process and build work instructions and working to/assisting in developing test procedures; - Maintaining accurate, traceable records along with ensuring strict adherence to quality standards; - Using computerised systems to maintain build data integrity; - Complying with all Health, Safety and Environmental guidance and regulations - Taking ownership of the area and products, driving continuous improvement actively and reporting issues within the work area; To be successful in the role, you will have significant mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience  gained in a battery manufacturing environment, preferably in Aerospace, Defence, Automotive or similar sectors.   Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a permanent Graduate Product Design Engineer to join our Design team.   This is a role where the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering concept designs through use of your CAD and graphic design skills.   You will undertake a wide range of design projects, working closely with a range of customers from SMB’s to major OEM’s and ensure their requirements are met within weight, cost and timescales. You will be taking designs from initial concepts through to volume production across a range of sectors including automotive, motorsport, mining, aviation, marine and defence.   Duties will include generating concepts and presenting them to teams, liaising with customers at differing levels of seniority and working with a myriad of teams to reach target and project deadlines. You will work with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability. You will also work with technical teams to fulfil customer requirements and attend component tests where required.   In this role, you will need a good working CAD literacy in Siemens NX 9.0 and TeamCentre. You will be able to present design ideas, discuss and critique plans and offer alternative design solutions.   The successful candidate must be educated to degree level in either Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Aerospace or Product Engineering or Product Design. Experience of mechanical or graphic design in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry would be advantageous. It would also be beneficial to be familiar with CATIA V5.   The successful individual will be able to use their initiative and respond to problems quickly. To be successful in this role, you will also be in a customer/VIP facing role so will have high standards of presentation and communication skills. Williams Advanced Engineering are currently looking to recruit a Finance Controller reporting to the Chief Finance Officer.  This is a senior role requiring strong technical accounting skills with responsibility for core activities such as: managing corporate governance, running the general ledger, financial accounting, statutory reporting, tax, treasury, funding and insurance for the business and its wholly owned subsidiaries.   This role is critical to maintaining and improving financial controls as the company continues to grow rapidly, specifically tight cash management.   The successful individual will lead a small team of Finance professionals, covering day-to-day transactional and monthly accounting activities whilst maintaining and enforcing adequate corporate governance controls.  They will provide technical guidance in accounting and tax matters, seeking external guidance where appropriate.  They will also be responsible for leading statutory accounts preparation and will be the main point of contact with auditors.   Key activities include: - Ownership of the Capital Expenditure approval and creation process. - Financial review and due diligence of customers to actively manage and minimise credit risk. - Management of banking and funding facilities to ensure effective services are maintained. - Maintenance of good relationships with insurance brokers to ensure that the company has the relevant coverage across the whole suite of insurance products available on the market. - Proactive management of risk, leading the company-wide risk management agenda. - Identification of process improvements and implementation of new processes and procedures. - Involvement in new strategic growth opportunities and corporate structures to facilitate growth. There will be a requirement to support, and at times deputise for, the Chief Finance Officer in managing external stakeholder relationships.  These include shareholders, banks and other service providers.    The successful individual will have a strong academic background at degree level alongside previous experience in industry and management of teams.  A qualified accountant with exposure to project revenue recognition, production accounting and stock is essential.  (‘Big Four’ experience a strong advantage but not essential.)    To be successful in the role you will have the ability to identify, manage and influence stakeholders effectively along with being committed to delivering innovation and improvement within Finance, ensuring systems are fit for purpose and robust.  You will also have solid technical accounting knowledge and experience of ERP system fundamentals and configuration.   You will have excellent communication skills, especially the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-Finance colleague and will be content to work autonomously taking ownership for Finance issues.  The ability to zoom in and out of detail as necessary – understanding all areas of the spectrum from accounting level detail to total company level is essential.   We are seeking an independent thinker who can constructively challenge senior stakeholders.  You will therefore be resilient, energetic and enthusiastic.  The requirement to manage a team means we are seeking someone with excellent leadership skills and the ability to motivate team members.   This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in a growing and varied position within Williams Advanced Engineering. You will ensure patterns, jigs and race car components are produced in the most efficient, cost effective way whilst keeping lead-times to a minimum. The position:   We are currently seeking a Prototype and Test Technician to join the Test Cell area of our Research and Development Test department. This part of the department provides factory-based testing and support of Williams Advanced Engineering for new and existing projects, with an emphasis on the testing of hybrid powertrains and energy storage systems.   The role:   Reporting to the Research and Development Test Cell Manager, you will primarily be part of a team of technicians working on a variety of different dynos and projects, for example:   - The testing of high-speed dynos for electric motor and gearbox testing. - Developing and testing prototype high voltage automotive batteries. - Testing and analysing the performance of single battery cells and modules. - Maintenance of all test rigs. The work in the department is very varied and changes constantly therefore you will need to be adaptable to suit the project in hand, helping to create new rigs and rig installations as necessary. Some foreign travel may be required depending on the project being worked on. You may also be called upon to support electronics and testing activities in other areas of the department when required.   Person specification   The ideal candidates will have knowledge of electric vehicles and will ideally be educated to an HNC/HND or degree level. As the role is varied you will require a wide range of skills including:   - All-round practical skills for the building of test components and test rigs. - Wiring skills for the construction of looms for the test cells and test rigs. - Ability to diagnose issues with rigs, test equipment and automotive components. - Ability to be quick thinking and work unsupervised using your own initiative. You will ideally have some experience of dyno testing and a familiarity with data logging software packages such as Atlas and CANalyzer & System Monitor.
