The Role:


Williams are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic person to join the process and HPC team within the CFD group.  Working under the guidance of our Lead Process Engineer you will work to deliver a highly optimised and effective end-to-end CFD workflow through development of robust and effective technical solutions.  In addition, you will be responsible for providing backup support for the HPC engineer to ensure systems and processes always remain operational.  This role requires strong technical and problem-solving skills as well as expertise in HPC and Linux systems.  A high degree of user interaction and liaison will be necessary to ensure that the CFD workflow is fit for purpose and delivers on key objectives.


Key Operational Duties:

  • Assisting in the design and implementation of current and future CFD workflow
  • Management of key software services used in the CFD process
  • Developing/Implementing enhanced monitoring and reporting tools
  • Working with HPC engineer to optimise backend processes
  • Conducting benchmarking and performance evaluations
  • Provide at elbow-support to users of the CFD process
  • Provide out-of-hours support for critical CFD process production issues (within reason)
  • Liaising with software and hardware vendors

Essential Skills / Credentials:

  • At least 3 years’ relative experience within an industrial setting
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux systems
  • Proficient with Linux shell scripting, Python, and ideally C#
  • Strong understanding of key CFD processes
  • Experience with OpenFOAM and Star-CCM+
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication

Desirable Skills / Credentials:

  • Experience of Java, C++, C#, mySQL would be advantageous
  • Experience of parallel file systems, MPI, batch scheduling, containerisation, and GPU processing
  • Proven experience with HPC systems
  • Experience with OpenFOAM and Star-CCM+
  • F1 experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • A flexible approach to working is essential for this role
  • Out of hours and some weekend working is expected
  • All work will be factory based in Grove
