Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for Engineer – Systems Integration to join our team on a permanent basis.
Reporting to the Head of Powertrain – Formula E, this is a key role where the successful individual will integrate electrical systems and components, design harnesses, specify sensors to achieve best performing Formula E powertrain.
Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include the development of system architecture; the analysis and specification of system requirements including the communication, functional and physical elements of the system. You will take complete ownership of racing car harness design and manufacturing.
You will be responsible for specification of car and test rig sensors and integration of them and systems including power distribution module, low voltage battery, racing car ECU. The Systems Integration Engineer will draw schematics and maintain high level systems diagrams of high and low voltage power distribution networks and car CAN communication architecture. You will ensure that the electrical design adheres to low voltage, high voltage, high current and EMC best practices.
Responsibilities will include conducting hazard analysis, risk management and DFMEA for components and systems as required. When and if required, you will also be a travelling member of the testing and/or racing team to diagnose and troubleshoot system issues.
The successful candidate will have recent experience and a proven track record in electrical integration within the automotive or motorsport industries, a degree in the relevant engineering discipline and the ability to work to strict deadlines. Working knowledge of MAT SM, ATLAS, Vector tools (including CANalyser) and harness design using Vesys 2 would be advantageous.
