Applications are invited for the post of P&T Technician within Prototype and Test, specifically in the Test Lab area. This part of the department provides all forms of factory based component and vehicle testing support for both our racing activities and external projects for Williams Advanced Engineering.

 

Main accountabilities

 

Reporting to the P&T – Test Lab Manager you will primarily be part of a team of four technicians working on component and systems testing for strength, durability and performance within our test laboratory area. Your main responsibilities will include: build and maintenance of servo-hydraulics test rigs, supporting four post rig testing, problem solving, analysis of test data and reporting on the results of testing. Some foreign travel may be required depending on the project being worked on. You may also be called upon to support testing activities in the test cell area of the department and at external test facilities, depending on the department’s workload.

 

Person specification

 

The ideal candidates will ideally be educated to HNC/HND or Degree level and have experience in a Formula 1 or motorsport factory test environment. You will have excellent all round practical skills to build test assemblies and test rigs, including the ability to use machine tools. Familiarity with MTS, Zwick Roell, Instron and Servotest testing equipment and software and Matlab, along with good Word and Excel skills, would be advantageous. Experience of servo-hydraulic test systems, power packs and ring mains would also be valuable. You will be quick thinking and proactive and able to work unsupervised using your own initiative as well as part of a team of technicians responsible for a project area.
