    Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer, Power Electronics to join our team on a permanent basis.

    Reporting to the Head of Powertrain – Formula E, this is an exciting role where the successful candidate will be working on design and development of power electronic/electronic circuits for our Formula E racing car.

    Duties will be wide ranging and varied but will include providing engineering support, specifically for the development of electronic hardware systems; and where appropriate software and sensor solutions. The successful candidate will support rig test activities of electric machines and drives including planning, development and execution; working with the development, race and test departments.

    It is essential that the Senior Power Electronics Engineer has extensive experience of designing IGBT/SiC gate driver, control architecture and measurement circuits, selection/characterisation of silicon devices for inverter, dcdc converter and battery charger applications, modelling and simulation of circuits/systems in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/PSpice. The candidate will have an engineering degree in a relevant discipline, experience of developing inverter/dcdc/battery chargers for high performance electric vehicle applications.

    Knowledge of automotive standards and regulations for electric vehicles and their components would be desirable.

    The successful individual will have strong customer facing skills to support the business in its commercial activities, be robust in the use of project tools, and reporting procedures. You will also need to ensure high levels of competence in the use of development tools and hardware as required.
