Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Control Systems Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis.

Reporting to the Head of Powertrain – Formula E, this is an exciting role where the successful candidate will divide their time between control systems development and data analysis for racing car performance improvement.

Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include providing engineering support, specifically for the development of control systems; and where appropriate hardware solutions. The successful candidate will support rig test activities including planning, development and execution; working with the development, race and test departments.

Responsibilities will include supporting the Performance Engineer for the Formula E team including data analysis of tyre, brake control system, energy management strategy, general car performance parameters and supporting the DIL simulator development and maintenance.

It is essential that the Control Systems Engineer has extensive experience of modelling and simulation of systems in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, rapid code generation techniques for algorithm development and CAN communication and calibration tools

The Successful candidate will have an engineering degree in a relevant discipline, experience of automotive ECU hardware and software development, rapid controller prototyping using dSpace and similar HIL simulators.

Experience on specifically electric vehicle control systems development and knowledge of automotive standards and regulations for EV and their components would be desirable.

The successful individual will have strong customer facing skills to support the business in its commercial activities, be robust in the use of project tools, and reporting procedures. You will also need to ensure high levels of competence in the use of development tools and hardware as required.
