Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for Principal Engineer, Battery Systems to join our team on a full time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Head of Electrical, this is a key role where the successful individual will be responsible for the leading the development and delivery of battery electrical systems for WAE battery programmes. The individual will have a broad battery experience allowing them to lead a team of engineers delivering whole battery electrical design and support discussions with customers at both technical and senior management levels.
Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include developing and maintaining a technology roadmap for battery systems across various market sectors. The individual will maintain awareness of technology developments across the broader market, advising their team as appropriate. The successful candidate will work with the project lead, supporting the establishment of production and test procedures and practices which will aim progressively towards developing a robust solution to the agreed specification. We are seeking a person who will work towards generating patentable IP, technical reports, conference papers and supporting the preparation of technical proposals for electrical, power and control systems
The individual will be responsible for the development of functional safety plans and documentation ensuring that batteries are capable of appropriate certification levels, as well as the documentation and dissemination of project requirements within the battery team, ensuring that customer’s requirements are understood across the projects involved.
The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant discipline and experience in the understanding of Lithium based battery cells, you will have knowledge of vehicle charging standards and approaches, with a strong understanding of battery techniques applicable to high power automotive/motorsports battery packs. Experience of product design and development approaches and techniques, as well as experience of automotive ECU hardware and software development are required for this role.
